Government Health Care Plan in Thailand

Thailand’s healthcare system has come a long way in the past decade or so. It now offers not only residents of Thailand free medical care, but also people who just happen to be visiting the country. The only thing that people need to consider prior to visiting Thailand is that there is no general health care plan in place. What this means is that while Thailand does provide health care to its residents and to visitors, most of the doctors are specialists in one field or another. What this means is that a person with a minor or common medical problem may have a bit of trouble finding medical assistance for that particular ailment.

A visitor who becomes ill will need to go to a general hospital where they will be seen by a doctor who specializes in one field or another. Even though it seems as if any doctor should be able to hand a common illness, this is not always the case.

With that said, Thailand does offer a healthcare program that will help offset the cost of drugs and hospital visits to anyone, whether it is a resident, tourist or foreigners living in Thailand, permanently or temporarily. While their health care system may be a bit disorganized in terms of general medicine, it is far better than some countries that offer few health care options to its residents or visitors. Senior citizens of Thailand are covered under special programs within the health care system.

Government Health Care System in France

France is considered to have one of the best healthcare systems in Europe. Over the years France has perfected a healthcare system which allows almost all of it’s residents to acquire basic health care at an inexpensive price. With that said, there are some draw backs to the healthcare system in France. This is especially true when considering things like surgeries that are considered to be optional, or elective, personalized care such as private doctors or nurses, not to mention private hospital rooms. These situations may leave an individual feeling a bit discouraged by the healthcare system in France.

While France is in fact considered to have one of the best healthcare systems in Europe, it is not widely known for its frugality. More than 11 percent of the totals gross in domestic product of the entire country of France, goes toward assisting its residents obtain healthcare and insuring them. Many people would argue that this is a wonderful deed on France’s part and that helping its residents with their health issues is notable, however, others might wonder why it is that so much of the country’s total revenue is being spent on something as trivial as assisting others with their health.

In conclusion, France has a great healthcare plan because they seem to care enough to be sure their residents have the proper healthcare in place, even if it costs them a bit more money in the long run.

Government Health Care System in Spain

While the healthcare system in Spain is a good deal different than the health care systems in other countries, there are a few aspects that are comparable. Any individual who pays for social security or taxes within Spain is entitled to free or inexpensive health care. Not only does this cover each and every tax paying citizen of Spain, but it also covers any of their children, or spouses. One of the best aspects of the government health care system in Spain is that even non-residents who are traveling through Spain can request assistance should they acquire an injury, or become ill. This is especially helpful if an otherwise large medical bill may have been incurred.

In fact, healthcare insurance is even available to tourists for a period of three months while they are visiting Spain. Once the three month period is over, they will have to visit the government health care agency and apply for a European Health Insurance card. There is also the possibility that individuals may be able to obtain national health insurance when visiting foreign countries. In most cases this insurance is in place for people who have moved to Spain but continue to receive their retirement from whatever country they worked in. Essentially, a person who has made the move from another country but still pays taxes in Spain, and as long as those individuals pay social security in Spain, they are entitled to the national health care coverage.
